Lighting up the future : An Exclusive Interview with Emre Akbulut
1.     Can you please introduce yourself, Emre?

My name is Emre Akbulut, and I’ve been with LG for 3.5 years, focusing on LED display technologies. As the LED Technical Supervisor, I oversee the implementation of LED projects across the European region, managing project execution and providing support to sales engineers.

Additionally, I support solution proposals by identifying client requirements, designing structures, and developing playback systems, among other responsibilities. I also lead the design, development, and delivery of LED training activities, ensuring that both our team and clients stay well-informed about the latest technologies and best practices. My goal is to ensure that our LED solutions meet the highest standards, offering exceptional value to our customers.
2.     What is MicroLED, and how is it different from other LED technologies?

MicroLED is a next-generation display technology where each pixel is made of tiny, self-emitting LEDs that produce their own light. Unlike DVLED (Direct-View LED), which uses larger clusters of LEDs to form images, MicroLED relies on much smaller LEDs, enabling higher resolution and finer detail.

One of the key differences is pixel density. MicroLED's small size allows for sharper images, even on smaller displays, whereas DVLED is better suited for large-scale displays like billboards or stadium screens, where resolution isn’t as critical due to the viewing distance.

MicroLED also offers superior contrast and black levels since each pixel can be turned off

individually, resulting in perfect blacks and high contrast. DVLED, while bright and vibrant, cannot match this level of precision. Additionally, MicroLED is more energy-efficient and has a longer lifespan due to its durable inorganic materials, making it ideal for premium displays across various sizes, from small devices to large screens.
3.     How does LG differentiate its MicroLED technology, LG MAGNIT?

LG MAGNIT stands out with its superior color uniformity from any angle. Its innovative Chip Transfer and Surface Treatment Technology enhances white uniformity and reduces color distortion across a wide viewing angle, delivering true and accurate color. This ensures remarkable image quality, with the display maintaining the same color consistency whether viewed from the left or right side.

Another key advantage is its profound blacks. LG MAGNIT's Black Coating Technology and advanced electronics enhance black levels and low-grey performance while reducing reflections, providing sharper contrast and more immersive visuals.

Powered by the Alpha AI processor, LG MAGNIT optimizes image quality in real-time, improving sharpness, contrast, and color while minimizing noise. The display also features a seamless design thanks to LG’s FLAT technology, which improves alignment between tiles and eliminates dark or bright lines for a smooth, uninterrupted viewing surface.

Importantly, LG MAGNIT is eco-friendly. It consumes less power and features a real standby mode, which lowers energy usage, reduces surface temperature, and cuts carbon emissions. This not only enhances energy efficiency but also makes it a more environmentally responsible solution.

With its combination of high color consistency, superior black levels, AI-powered processing, seamless design, and eco-friendly operation, LG MAGNIT is a premium, sustainable choice in the MicroLED market
4.     What have customers said about LG MAGNIT
Customers are highly impressed with LG MAGNIT, particularly its outstanding image quality. They frequently mention the vibrant colors and deep blacks, which create a visually stunning experience. The sleek design of the display delivers a "wow" factor, especially in premium environments like corporate offices, luxury homes, and retail spaces.

Another standout feature is user-friendliness. The webOS platform provides essential tools that make daily operations easier and more efficient. With One:Quick Share, users can easily share their PC screen with the display through a simple setup. The Magic Remote functions like a mouse for menu navigation and selection, and its cursor can also double as a presentation tool, replacing a traditional laser pointer.

Customers also appreciate LG MAGNIT's energy efficiency, noting its lower power consumption and real standby mode, which help reduce costs and support their sustainability goals.
5.     What does the future hold for MicroLED?
The future of MicroLED technology is both exciting and transformative. As one of the most advanced display solutions available, MicroLED delivers exceptional brightness, contrast, and color accuracy, setting a new standard for visual excellence. The technology is rapidly advancing, with continual improvements in performance and quality enhancing its capabilities. As these advancements progress, MicroLED will likely become more affordable, opening the door to a wider range of applications. This trend toward lower costs will drive broader adoption across various sectors, including consumer electronics, large-scale public displays, and high-end professional installations.

Moreover, MicroLED’s eco-friendly attributes, such as its energy efficiency and longer lifespan, align well with the increasing demand for sustainability. These factors, combined with ongoing innovations in manufacturing, are expected to significantly boost MicroLED's market share in the coming years. As the technology becomes more refined and cost-effective, MicroLED is poised to become a dominant force in the display industry, revolutionizing how we experience visual content across both established and emerging markets.
